Benchmade Refines the Shootout OTF with Updated Spring Mechanism
Benchmade has updated their popular Shootout OTF (out-the-front) automatic knife with a refined spring mechanism that delivers faster deployment and improved long-term reliability. The Shootout has become a go-to choice for law enforcement and first responders since its launch, and this mid-cycle refresh addresses the primary feedback from users over the past year.
The 3.6-inch CPM-CRUWEAR blade offers an outstanding balance of toughness, edge retention, and ease of sharpening โ making it ideal for the hard-use scenarios typical of tactical and professional environments. The updated spring mechanism provides a noticeably snappier action with positive lockup in both open and closed positions, and Benchmade claims the new design doubles the cycle life of the original mechanism.
The handle is constructed from lightweight Grivory in Flat Dark Earth with a black coated blade, keeping weight to just 3.0 oz despite the full-size blade. A reversible deep-carry pocket clip allows for tip-up carry on either side, and the slide-actuated mechanism is intuitive even with gloved hands.
At $320, the Shootout remains a premium choice in the OTF category, with the updated mechanism adding meaningful durability. Available through Benchmade authorized dealers.
