Microtech Releases Signature Series Ultratech OTF with Hand-Anodized Handles

MicrotechJuly 13, 2026Source: BladeHQ Blog

Microtech has launched a Signature Series production run of their iconic Ultratech OTF (Out The Front) automatic knife, featuring hand-anodized titanium handles in unique, never-repeated color patterns. Each knife in this limited series is individually numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity, appealing to collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate the intersection of mechanical precision and artistic expression.

The hand-anodizing process creates vibrant, iridescent colors on the Grade 5 titanium handles by precisely controlling voltage during electrochemical treatment. Unlike standard anodizing, the hand-applied technique used for Signature Series knives creates gradient transitions and multi-color patterns that are impossible to achieve with automated processes. No two knives in the series will share the same coloration, making each piece a unique example of functional art. The colors range from deep blues and purples to bronze, gold, and green tones depending on voltage and application technique.

The mechanical specifications remain true to the Ultratech platform that has made Microtech a household name among OTF enthusiasts. The 3.4-inch double-edged dagger blade is crafted from M390 steel, heat-treated to Microtech's exacting standards for optimal edge retention. The dual-action firing mechanism deploys and retracts the blade with authority, driven by a coil spring system that has been refined over decades of production. The firing button is ambidextrous and features a safety slide that prevents accidental deployment.

The pocket clip is precision-machined from titanium and configured for right-handed, tip-down carry. The overall length is 8.33 inches open and 4.93 inches closed, with a carry weight of 3.6 ounces that balances substantial feel with pocketability. Microtech's fit and finish standards are among the highest in the industry, and the Signature Series receives additional quality inspection and hand-tuning before shipment.

Limited to just 500 pieces globally, the Signature Series Ultratech is expected to sell out quickly. Visit Microtech to check availability and secure your piece of this exclusive run.
