TOOR Barrow: The 2.29-Ounce USA-Made MagnaCut Fixed Blade That Rethinks the Blade

TOORSeptember 3, 2026Source: Gear Patrol

Most ultralight knife projects start with exotic materials. Toor Knives founder and CEO Connor Toor started with a question instead: what part of the blade do I actually use? The answer became the Barrow, a USA-made fixed blade that weighs just 2.29 ounces in its lightest configuration โ€” not because it is built from space-age alloys, but because its silhouette was redesigned around real field work.

As an avid hunter, Toor noticed that most animal processing and detailed field tasks are done with the tip and the belly of the blade. So the Barrow leans into both: a drop-point MagnaCut blade with generous tip-and-belly geometry that cuts off abruptly once the working edge is done. At 2.875 inches it is shorter than many classic hunting knives, but it pairs with a generous 4.5-inch handle that delivers a full four-fingered grip. As Toor puts it, you get the blade you actually use, the handle you actually need, and almost nothing you don't.

The steel is not an afterthought. The Barrow uses MagnaCut, the super steel that has become the outdoor world's default answer for toughness-plus-corrosion-resistance, with spine jimping for grip on the push cuts. But the material focus is the handle: buyers choose between Walnut with brass hardware โ€” the version that hits that 2.29-ounce mark and ships with a classic leather sheath โ€” or G10 in Crimson or SOCOM Black with stainless hardware and matching Kydex.

Every configuration costs $295, which is a refreshingly flat pricing strategy in a category where handle materials usually move the needle. The weight does change with your choice: the G10 versions sit at 2.7 ounces, still impressively light for a 2.875-inch fixed blade with a 4.5-inch handle. And with the Barrow being built in the USA, the price tag buys domestic production rather than import margin.

For hunters and outdoor users who have been carrying blades with more steel than they ever use, the Barrow is a scalpel-minded correction โ€” lighter, handier, and built around the cuts that actually happen in the field.
