Vosteed Inferno: Nick Stassa Collaboration Fixed Blade with Micarta Handle

The Vosteed Inferno is the first collaboration between Vosteed and Nick from the Stassa23 Knife Therapy channel, and the result splits the difference between a practical EDC fixed blade and something you'd actually want to show off. It's a strong debut for the partnership.

The blade is 3.57 inches of 14C28N steel — a workhorse stainless that takes a great edge, sharpens easily, and offers good corrosion resistance. It's not an exotic super steel, but it's a smart choice for a fixed blade that's meant to be used hard and sharpened frequently. The blade shape is a classic drop point with a subtle belly for slicing and a tip that's strong enough for light prying.

The Micarta handle gives it warmth and texture without sacrificing grip in wet conditions. Micarta is a resin-impregnated fabric composite that gets grippier when wet — the opposite of most handle materials — making it an excellent choice for a fixed blade that might see hard outdoor use. The handle contours fit the hand well, with a subtle index finger choil that keeps your hand from sliding forward during heavy cutting.

The real design win is the carry system. Vosteed positions it as a low-profile, daily-use fixed blade with a sheath system built for pocket-friendly carry. Fixed blades usually fail at comfort long before they fail at cutting — the bulk of a typical sheath and handle makes them awkward for pocket carry. The Inferno's sheath is slim enough to disappear in a front pocket while keeping the blade secure and accessible.

At $82, the Inferno is priced competitively against other EDC fixed blades like the ESEE Izula II ($95), the White River Knives Backpacker ($120), and the Bradford Guardian 3 ($150). The 14C28N steel is a step down from the S35VN or M390 found in pricier options, but for the intended use case (light-to-medium EDC cutting tasks), it's more than adequate.
