WE Knife Co. Muster: A Tank-Like M390 Folder From the Military Limited Series

WE KnifeAugust 14, 2026Source: KnifeNews

Last month we wrote about the WE Knife Co. Hull, a military-themed folder that was part of a family of limited edition models. Now that the full suite has arrived, we're looking at the Muster โ€” a large, tank-like folder that should appeal directly to fans of beefy knives. Like the Hull, and like this whole special series, the Muster is a big knife, and it wears its size proudly.

Its blade length is 3.83 inches, and its profile is a wicked-looking clip point with perhaps a little more width than the average example of the shape. The .16-inch stock gives the edge some beef without impairing its slicing and piercing capabilities, and WE Knife Co.'s old standby, M390, offers high-level powder metallurgy performance with excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance. This is a serious cutting tool, but it's the handle where this knife really shows off.

One thing that has always distinguished WE Knife's mainline releases, from its earliest pieces to today, is the attention to detail lavished on their handles โ€” and they certainly went the extra mile with the Muster. There's a stepped, triple-layer chamfer running around the perimeter, army-star cutouts echoing the military theme, geartooth-esque cutouts, and elaborate machining throughout. On the off-side scale sits the frame lock with the now industry-standard steel interface component, and the sculpted titanium pocket clip is custom-designed for this piece, complementing the aggressive aesthetic. Describing a knife as "tanky" may be a little passรฉ at this point, but the Muster really does bring to mind the solid, stocky uberfolders of ten years ago โ€” "overbuilt" would be another apt term.

Compared to the rest of the current WE Knife lineup โ€” which has leaned toward sleek, modern, machined designs โ€” the Muster is a deliberate throwback to the era of maximalist folding knives, and it executes that style with WE's signature build quality. Compared to the Hull, its series sibling, the Muster is the bigger, bolder statement piece. The Muster, along with the rest of the military limited series, is available now, with all three variants of the Muster limited to just 200 pieces each. For collectors, that scarcity plus the distinctive design makes it an easy decision for anyone who likes their knives big, detailed, and limited; for everyday carriers, the size and weight mean it's a knife you carry because you want to, not because it disappears in a pocket. Either way, this is one of the most striking releases in WE's limited-run series.

The Verdict: The Muster is a maximalist M390 folder with machined details everywhere you look โ€” and only 200 pieces per variant. For fans of beefy knives, it's an easy sell.
