Yeti Is Discontinuing the Rambler Straw Mug — and It's Discounted in Every Color

But there is only one Yeti product he uses every day and refuses to leave home without: the Rambler Straw Mug, which fills his kitchen cabinets in various colors and sizes, with the 35-ounce version as his go-to, carrying more than a liter of water without being unwieldy in a truck cupholder. So it is notable news that Yeti appears to be discontinuing the item wholesale.
The evidence is right on the brand's website. A small label has appeared on the product pages of every Rambler Straw Mug, including those in the newly released Pampa Green and Stag Red colorways: "Hitting the Road," Yeti's shorthand for products on their way out of the brand's ever-expanding catalog — for good. It is a quiet retirement rather than a fanfare, but for the mug's devoted following, it marks the end of an era for one of Yeti's most-loved everyday products.
The timing adds a wrinkle. Last year, Yeti released a leakproof version of the tumbler with a screw top and integrated straw that works wonderfully, and there is real utility in being able to throw a mug in a gym bag or carry it with a small newborn in the other arm. The original's fans, though, prefer the simplicity of the classic top, which is easier to take apart and, crucially, to clean — and there was hope the original was here to stay when Yeti redesigned the handle earlier this year. The discontinuation news lands despite that refresh, which makes the retirement feel more decisive.
If there is a silver lining, it is this: Yeti has discounted all remaining colorways of the Rambler Straw Mug, including the Pampa Green and Stag Red that make up the Estancia Collection, new for the fall. Formerly $42, the 35-ounce Rambler Straw Mug is going for $32 — the same price as all available colorways of the 42-ounce version — while supplies last. Compared with the leakproof successor and the rest of Yeti's tumbler lineup, the original remains the cleanest, most user-friendly design Yeti has made, and at $32 it is the easiest it has ever been to stock up. For anyone who has been meaning to own the mug Yeti's own editors carry daily, this is the window — once the shelves clear, the original Rambler Straw Mug is gone for good.
