Benchmade Reissues the Adamas in Marbled Carbon Fiber With MagnaCut and FDE Hardware

Benchmade's Adamas has been through a quiet renaissance this year. The MagnaCut redux of its legendary tactical folder landed in July, and the response was strong enough that the brand clearly decided it was not anywhere near done with the platform. The new Benchmade Adamas Marbled Carbon Fiber is the fifth entry in the MagnaCut Adamas line, and it is the first to swap the G-10 handle scales that defined the July editions for something novel: black-and-gray marbled carbon fiber. The styling upgrade is immediately obvious, but the material change brings real benefits beyond the looks.

The marbled carbon fiber handle makes the knife lighter than its predecessors. The G-10 versions weigh in at 6.54 ounces, while the carbon fiber edition cuts that to 6.2 ounces — a 0.34-ounce reduction that matters when a tactical folder rides on a belt all day. The same 3.82-inch drop-point MagnaCut blade returns, complete with its eye-catching fuller groove, and the hardware gets a classy contrast treatment: FDE (Flat Dark Earth) thumb studs, pivot, liners, and pocket clip replace the black hardware of previous editions. There is also an automatic version of the knife, which skips the FDE elements but is otherwise similar, even down to the crossbar locking mechanism, and it comes in even lighter at just 5.83 ounces.

The honest tradeoffs are the usual ones for smooth carbon fiber. Technically, the smooth material will not be as grippy as G-10, nor quite as rugged, though Gear Patrol notes that in normal everyday operation most users are unlikely to notice a practical difference. The bigger consideration is price: the marbled carbon fiber Adamas will cost $425 at launch, a $100 increase over the G-10 edition, and the automatic version comes in at $525, up from the standard auto's $425 MSRP. Both launch in under a week, and the waitlist is already open for buyers who want to be notified the moment they become available.

Compared with the G-10 Adamas editions from July, the marbled carbon fiber version offers lighter weight, a more upscale look, and FDE contrast hardware at a $100 premium. Compared with other tactical folders in the $400 range, the Adamas remains one of the most overbuilt, confidence-inspiring platforms available, and MagnaCut is a legitimate modern steel choice. For collectors who grabbed the July editions, this is the version that stands out on the shelf; for anyone who passed on the G-10 run, the marbled carbon fiber Adamas is arguably the most compelling entry point yet into Benchmade's flagship tactical line.
