Benchmade SlipRidge: The $300 Hunt Collection Folder With a 3.5-Inch MagnaCut Clip Point

BenchmadeSeptember 6, 2026Source: Gear Patrol

Benchmade spends most of its energy on EDC icons, but this week the blue butterfly reminded everyone that the Hunt Collection still gets first pick of new ideas. The all-new SlipRidge folder โ€” model 15090-01, live now in the brand's new-for-fall lineup and shipping to dealers around mid-September at roughly $300 โ€” is a broad-shouldered, hunting-bred folder that Gear Patrol's first look suggests could be an accidental everyday-carry champion. Given how loud this year's Bugout-adjacent releases have been, the SlipRidge is the quieter, more interesting story of the season.

The headline is the blade. Benchmade gave the SlipRidge a full-bellied modified clip point measuring 3.5 inches โ€” about a quarter-inch longer than the Bugout's cutting edge โ€” ground from MagnaCut and finished through the company's SelectEdge ultra-fine sharpening process. For hunters that means a blade that handles field chores without fuss, and for EDC types it means a folding knife that is frankly overqualified for box duty. The full liner construction and a broad AXIS lock keep the package dependable, and an ambidextrous thumb stud makes one-handed opening a non-event. A deep-carry pocket clip rounds out the carry side.

The SlipRidge's most distinctive trick is its user-removable handle scales. The pivot is hidden beneath them, which keeps debris out of the action and makes cleaning or customization a screwdriver job rather than a trip to the shop. Benchmade is launching the folder in two builds โ€” Rust Orange G10 and Dark Brown Stabilized Wood โ€” with replacement scales in micarta and carbon fiber already planned. Spec geeks will note the wood version actually weighs less than the G10 edition, coming in just over 3.7 ounces against roughly 4.2, so material choice matters beyond looks.

The folder also slots into a family: the SlipRidge Fixed Blade and the SlipRidge Hook are already part of the same Hunt Collection ecosystem, making this a system rather than a one-off. At $300 it lands in the crowded premium-hunting-folder segment where the Bugout's smaller siblings and the competition's MagnaCut crossbars live โ€” but nothing else in that crowd lets you swap scales without voiding anything. If the hunting angle does not apply to you, the carry math still does: a 3.5-inch MagnaCut folder with AXIS lock, removable scales, and a deep-carry clip is a lot of folder for the price, whatever your hobby is.
