Blade Show West 2026 Lands in Salt Lake City With 250+ Exhibitors

October 18, 2026Source: KnifeNews

Blade Show West opened this weekend at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, and the venue says a lot about where the American knife industry lives now. The show launched in 2018 and has bounced between Portland and Salt Lake, both of them within driving distance of the highest concentration of American knifemakers in the country โ€” Utah, Idaho, and Colorado between them host a remarkable share of the custom and mid-tech shops.

The exhibitor list runs past 250 companies, and it is more international than the show's regional reputation suggests. We Knife Co. and its associated brands came from China, Fox Knives from Italy, and Three Rivers Manufacturing from Massachusetts, alongside the expected roster of American custom makers. For a show that is explicitly the younger sibling of Atlanta's Blade Show, that is a real vote of confidence from the industry.

The programming matters more than the floor plan for most attendees. Knifemaker Lonnie Jensen spent the show forging a knife in public โ€” a demonstration that has become a Blade Show fixture and, frankly, the best possible advertisement for custom work. Saturday's headline event is the West Coast Flipping Championships, where balisong competitors from across the country compete, a natural fit for a show on the West Coast given how much of American balisong culture grew up there. The Blade Show West Awards covered both production and custom categories.

For buyers, the practical value of a regional show is access. Atlanta is a pilgrimage; Salt Lake is a weekend. Dealers bring inventory, makers bring one-offs, and you can handle a knife before you commit several hundred dollars to it โ€” something no online retailer can replicate. That advantage matters more every year as prices climb.

The commercial backdrop is worth noting too: 2026 has been a year of consolidation and price increases across the production market, with titanium and MagnaCut pushing premium knives past the $500 mark routinely. Shows are where makers test whether the market will absorb those numbers, and where dealers find out which new releases actually move.

Verdict: a healthy, growing regional show with genuine industry support. We will report on any significant product reveals once the floor clears.
