Blade Show West Is Moving to Indianapolis in 2027

Blade ShowOctober 14, 2026Source: Knife Magazine

Blade Show's western edition is changing geography. The show will move to Indianapolis beginning in 2027, a decision forced by its current venue closing for roughly five years. The announcement came with the observation that Blade is consolidating its map rather than abandoning the concept, since Texas, Atlanta, and Indianapolis are now within a manageable distance of one another.

The move raises a question about what "West" means in the show's name. If the event lands in the Midwest, the branding becomes a legacy label rather than a geographic description, and the argument that Texas counts as western territory is one many residents of the actual West would dispute. Blade's organizers are likely less concerned with the semantics than with attendee travel patterns, and the reasoning holds: a venue that draws exhibitors from the same manufacturing base will fill a floor regardless of what city is printed on the badge.

The more interesting consequence concerns the show's character. The western edition developed a reputation for leaning culinary rather than tactical, which fits a fourth-quarter calendar slot where the biggest new model debuts have already happened. Indianapolis in the same season would inherit that role, but the local audience is different: closer to the traditional American cutlery and hunting markets and further from the culinary-heavy coastal crowd. That could shift both the exhibitor mix and the product emphasis over a few cycles.

For attendees, the practical impact is travel planning. Anyone who made the western show an annual trip now faces a longer and different journey, and the exhibitor list will take at least one cycle to settle.

Exhibitor economics will decide how the move lands. Show costs include booth space, travel for staff, and the inventory shipped to the floor, so a venue change that reduces travel distance for manufacturers can free up budget for larger displays. If Indianapolis draws the same production knife companies that dominate the spring show, the western edition may end up closer to its sibling than anyone expects.

Blade Show West opens in Indianapolis in 2027.
