Casio's Edifice EFV-650D Chronograph Falls to $75 on Amazon

CasioOctober 12, 2026Source: Gear Patrol

Casio's reputation rests on G-Shocks and inexpensive digitals, and that has obscured what the Edifice line has been doing, which is quietly producing some of the brand's most interesting watches. The EFV-650D is the clearest example, and right now it is cheaper than usual.

The watch debuted in 2023 and looks considerably more expensive than it is. The case is 43.5mm stainless steel at a relatively slim 11mm thick, and the design uses a narrow bezel and an angled 60-minute chapter ring to open up the dial rather than shrink it. That dial carries a tricompax chronograph layout with baton hour markers and a discreet date window between four and five o'clock, all behind a mineral crystal.

The specifications are honest sports-watch numbers despite the dressy appearance: 100 meters of water resistance, a 60-minute stopwatch and a 24-hour indicator, driven by a quartz movement Casio estimates at two years of battery life. The bracelet is stainless steel with a one-handed folding clasp, which is the kind of detail usually reserved for watches at several times this price.

The context makes the discount more interesting. Edifice turns 25 this year, and this has been one of its strongest runs — Casio's first mechanical watch in the line, the EFK-100, plus the EFR-575L chronograph and the EFS-S660D, an affordable answer to luxury sports watches. The EFV-650D is the model that best sums up that strategy: the look of a watch that should cost several hundred dollars, at a price that does not.

Verdict: at $75 for the black-dial version, a 37 percent reduction, this is one of the better value quartz chronographs available. The trade-off is the mineral crystal, which will pick up scratches that a sapphire one would shrug off. If that is acceptable, the case and dial work justify the money.
