Civivi's Award-Winning Yonder Drops to $59 for Prime Day
Zac Whitmore's first knife design walked away with Best Buy of the Year at Blade Show 2024, which is a strange thing to say about a $69 folder from a budget-leaning brand. Gear Patrol reports Civivi is now discounting the Yonder for Prime Day, with the Dark Green version dropping from $69 to $59 and the Damascus variant falling from $94 to $80.
The spec sheet is why it won. The standard Yonder runs a 2.88-inch spey point blade in 14C28N, the Swedish stainless that buyers keep choosing for how easily it sharpens and how well it resists corrosion. Weight is 2.53 ounces. The opener is an ambidextrous thumb stud, the clip is reversible and tip-up, and the lock is a modern crossbar with a ceramic ball-bearing pivot. Nothing on that list is exotic and nothing on it is a compromise, which is the point.
The comparison is with the knives the Yonder beat. At the $59 sale price it sits below most titanium-handled crossbar folders and above the cheapest D2-and-G10 imports. The Damascus version at $80 is the awkward one: the pattern is a visual feature, not evidence of better edge performance, and $21 buys pattern rather than capability. 14C28N is the honest steel choice on this knife, and the Dark Green variant is the one carrying the real discount.
As a first-time design, the Yonder's risks were proportions and detailing, and both landed. It carries like a small knife, cuts like a three-inch, and does not need special handling. If you already own one, a sale is not a reason to buy a second. If you have been waiting to try the design that won the award, $59 for the 14C28N version is the version to take, and the Damascus is for people who want the pattern specifically.
