CIVIVI's Clear Lexan Elementum Is a $76 See-Through Folder

CIVIVINovember 1, 2026Source: CIVIVI

Every few years a knife company decides that the handle should be transparent, and the results are usually terrible. CIVIVI's Elementum C18062AM-1 is the rare version that works, mostly because Lexan is a polycarbonate with real impact resistance rather than a brittle acrylic that cracks the first time the knife hits concrete.

The specification is the standard Elementum: 6.99 inches overall, a 2.96-inch drop point in Nitro-V at 59 to 61 HRC, a hollow grind, a liner lock, caged ceramic bearings, and a tip-up right-hand clip. Weight comes in at 2.98 ounces, a little heavier than the G10 version because the Lexan is thicker at 0.5 inches.

The handle is the story. CIVIVI machines a maze pattern into the clear material and suspends a ceramic ball inside it, with an extra ball in the box, so the knife ships with a tiny labyrinth puzzle built into the scale. It is the sort of detail that either delights you or makes you wonder who approved it, and there is no middle ground.

Practical concerns are real. Clear polycarbonate shows scratches, fingerprints and pocket lint, and it will yellow with UV exposure over years. The liner lock is visible through the scale, which is either a feature or a reminder of how simple the mechanism is. On the other hand, Lexan does not absorb sweat or oil the way micarta does, and it does not swell or shrink with humidity, so the action stays consistent.

At $76.50 it costs roughly $25 more than a G10 Elementum for a handle that is objectively less durable and subjectively more fun. Verdict: buy it as a second Elementum or a gift for someone who likes objects more than tools. Skip it as a first or only knife, because a clear handle is a conversation piece and not an improvement.
