Kansept's Symétrix Is a 2.85-Inch S35VN Frame Lock From $159.89
The Symétrix takes its name from the French word for symmetry, and Kansept's pitch is that the mirrored lines between blade and handle are functional rather than decorative. Whether or not you buy the philosophy, the specification is appealing: a 2.85-inch full-titanium frame lock in CPM S35VN starting at $159.89.
The K2141A2 runs green anodized titanium at $159.89. The K2141A4 moves to a blue-purple anodized titanium handle with a swirl pattern at $179.89. Both use the same 2.85-inch CPM S35VN blade, 0.118 inches thick, on a 6.79-inch overall length, with a frame lock and titanium scales. Kansept credits French knifemaker Alain André with the design and points out that the flat titanium variants are intended as customization platforms for anodizing and laser engraving — the swirl-pattern models arrive already finished.
The value argument at this price is the titanium frame. Most sub-$200 knives in this size use aluminum, G10 or FRN scales with steel liners, and the switch to a single-piece titanium frame changes both weight and feel. Titanium is lighter than steel, will not rust, and can be anodized to a specific color rather than painted. The tradeoff is manufacturing cost, which is why $160-$180 is the entry point and not $80. Combined with S35VN — a steel with realistic edge retention, excellent corrosion resistance and easy maintenance — the package is coherent.
The 2.85-inch blade length is the other defining choice. It keeps the knife legal and inconspicuous in more jurisdictions and makes it comfortable in a front pocket or a bag's small pocket, at the cost of leverage on thick material. This is an urban and office carry knife by design, not a camp knife. Anyone who needs to cut through heavy cardboard all day should look at the Ptarmigan at 3.12 inches instead; anyone who wants a small titanium knife that disappears until it is needed is exactly the target buyer here.
Verdict: buy the K2141A2 if you want plain anodized titanium you can customize later, and the A4 if you want the swirl finish already done. Both are honest sub-$200 titanium frame locks in a steel that will not fight you at the sharpener.
