Kansept's Symetrix Leans on Symmetry, Not Novelty

KanseptSeptember 25, 2026Source: Kansept Knives

Most knife names are marketing. The Kansept Symetrix is a description. Derived from the French symetrie, with a suffix added to make it a model name, it labels a folder whose entire argument is that a blade and a handle should echo each other rather than fight for visual weight.

The designer is French knifemaker Alain Andre, and his brief was balance. Uneven proportions tend to make a knife sit awkwardly in the hand during cutting, so Andre shaped the blade and handle with mirrored lines: the same sweep appears in both, which reads as clean geometry and also produces a well-centered grip. Whether you buy the visual explanation or the ergonomic one, the result is a knife that looks intentional from every angle.

The Symetrix is a small urban folder: 2.85 inches of CPM S35VN in a frame lock, built for commutes, offices and tasks that end before they become projects. S35VN at this size is a deliberate choice — it holds an edge well, resists staining, and will not punish you for going weeks between touch-ups. Titanium handles keep the knife flat and pocket-friendly, and Kansept offers the platform in four finishes: blackwash titanium at $162.89, green anodized titanium at $159.89, blue anodized titanium with a gold swirl pattern at $179.89, and a blue-purple anodized swirl at $179.89.

Compared with a three-inch G10 liner-lock folder at roughly half the price, the Symetrix sells materials, anodizing and design authorship rather than cutting power. Compared with a full-size titanium flipper, it sells size discipline — the kind of knife that stays in a suit pocket or a small pouch without pulling at the fabric.

Verdict: this is a knife for buyers who have already solved their cutting needs and are now solving for how a tool feels to own. Anyone shopping for blade per dollar should look elsewhere and will not be wrong to do so.

Kansept's anodized titanium runs are the first to sell through — check current Symetrix K2141 finish availability before ordering.
