Microtech MSI Gets New G10 Scale Options and Serrated Edge Variant

Microtech has announced new configuration options for the MSI (Manual Stitch Integral), their manual-opening ram-lock folder inspired by the automatic Stitch. The MSI, which launched to strong reviews in 2024, now comes in textured black and OD Green G10 handle variants alongside the original polymer scales.

The MSI features a 3.5-inch M390MK blade — Microtech's proprietary M390 formulation — with a distinctive hawkbill-inspired profile. The Ram-Lock mechanism provides rock-solid lockup with no blade play, and the handle includes a shrouded lanyard tube and deep-carry pocket clip. The new G10 variants add $20 to the base price, bringing the MSI to $320.

Microtech also released a fully serrated (full SE) version of the MSI, which knife enthusiasts rarely see outside of dedicated rescue knives. The serrated M390MK edge is aggressively toothed and designed for cutting through webbing, rope, and packaging materials with ease. It's a niche offering, but for users who regularly cut abrasive materials, the serrated edge offers longer effective cutting life.

The knife community's response has been mixed: some appreciate the G10 upgrade for improved grip, while others lament the lack of a titanium handle option, which would better match the MSI's premium price point. Nonetheless, the MSI continues to be a strong seller for Microtech.

Verdict: The G10 MSI is a meaningful upgrade over the polymer version. The serrated option is niche but appreciated by users who actually cut hard materials.
