The Best EDC Knife and Multitool Deals Still Live on Amazon
Amazon's October Prime Day has been running for the better part of a week, and the everyday carry category has taken a genuine beating on price. Gear Patrol's roundup collects the discounts that are still live, and the list is a useful cross-section of what the market values right now.
The most interesting entry is the Vosteed Raccoon TiSlim at $100, down from $135 - a 26 percent cut. The TiSlim takes Vosteed's popular Raccoon and thins it to 0.315 inches overall, roughly the width of three sticks of gum, while keeping titanium handle scales and a total weight of 2.69 ounces. The 3.18-inch drop-point blade is 154CM, or S35VN on the top variant, and the lock is a crossbar with caged ceramic bearings and ambidextrous thumb studs. At $100 a titanium crossbar-lock folder with those bearings is close to the floor for the configuration.
The premium end of the list belongs to the Benchmade Bugout 535-3 at $313, an 11 percent discount from $350 that adds a black carbon fiber handle and an S90V drop-point blade to the platform and comes in at just 2.02 ounces. S90V is a high-vanadium stainless with edge retention near the top of the production hierarchy, and Benchmade's LifeSharp program covers free resharpening and adjustment for life - which is a real part of what the money buys.
Two Leatherman entries bracket the range. The Micra drops to $35 from $50 and packs ten tools into a 2.5-inch, 1.76-ounce keychain frame led by spring-action scissors, a clip-point blade, tweezers, a nail file, a bottle opener, three screwdriver types and a ruler. The Skeletool KBX falls to $28 from $40, and it is the minimal answer to the multitool question: no pliers, no bit drivers, just a 420HC combo blade, a liner lock and a BottleClip that doubles as a pocket clip and a bottle opener at 1.3 ounces.
The value pick is the CJRB Latitude at $44 from $55, with a 3.47-inch AR-RPM9 drop point at 59 to 61 HRC, a ceramic bearing pivot, a top liner lock and G-10 scales at 4.23 ounces. Taken together the list makes the segment's current logic clear: budget knives get premium materials, premium knives get premium steel, and the middle is where the discounts are deepest.
