Vosteed Rebuilds the Corgi V With a Vanchor Lock and Aluminum

VosteedOctober 25, 2026Source: Vosteed

Vosteed's Corgi was the knife that made the company's name, and the Corgi V V is the version that finally makes the mechanism make sense on a bigger frame. It folds the Vanchor Lock into the original Corgi's paired front and back flippers, which is a harder engineering problem than it sounds.

The Vanchor Lock integrates the pivot and the lock release into a single mechanism, which means there is no separate button sitting beside the pivot. To bring that to a dual-flipper layout Vosteed reworked the internal structure, enlarged the lock button so the thumb lands naturally on it, and added denser jimping to both flippers. The blade is 2.91 inches of 154CM on an aluminum handle that is slightly longer and broader than the Corgi V's, which brings the proportions into balance. Stepped perimeter milling runs around the frame, the deep-carry clip is reversible and reshaped for thicker pocket fabric.

Two flippers on one blade is a real preference, not a gimmick. The front flipper gives a slower, more controlled deployment; the back flipper fires faster. Having both means the knife opens the way you happen to grip it. The cost is more internal geometry to get wrong, and Vosteed has already shipped one Vanchor mechanism, so this is an evolution rather than a debut.

At $105 the Corgi V V sits above Vosteed's $70 Marten 330 and well below anything in the premium tier. Compared with a WE Knife at $260, you are giving up titanium and a supersteel for aluminum and 154CM, which is a fair trade at this price. Compared with the original Corgi V at $73, the extra $32 buys the larger frame, the reworked lock, and a blade that is 0.55 inch longer.

Verdict: the most interesting $105 folder Vosteed has shipped. The dual-flipper Vanchor layout is the draw, and 154CM in an aluminum frame is the right steel at this price. Buy it if you want a fidget knife that is also a working knife; skip it if you need titanium at a hundred dollars, because that does not exist.
