Vosteed's Corgi V V Adds a Longer Frame to the Vanchor Lock

Vosteed's Corgi has been the brand's friendly little front-flipper for years. The Corgi V V, model A5110, is the version that grew up: a 2.91-inch Nitro-V blade on a slightly longer, broader aluminum handle, listed at $89.99 and marked coming soon on Vosteed's own store.

The mechanism is the story. Vosteed's Vanchor Lock integrates the pivot and the lock release into a single assembly, so the button you push to close the knife sits where the pivot would normally be. For the Corgi V V the company reworked the internals to make that lock work with a dual-flipper layout, front and back, each flipper cut in the shape of a corgi ear. The lock button is enlarged, and the flipper jimping is denser than on the original. One thing the Corgi V V inherits from the original that is worth keeping: the symmetrical shape. With a flipper on both ends the handle reads the same from either side, which is why the knife looks smaller in photos than its 2.91-inch blade suggests. The rear flipper also gives you a second way to open the knife without moving your grip, which is more useful than it sounds on a handle this short.

The proportion change is small but real. A 2.91-inch blade with a longer and broader handle puts the balance point further back, which is what people who complained the original Corgi felt small were actually describing. A 154CM version of the same knife, the A5104, is listed at $109, and a second 154CM variant at $105. The Nitro-V aluminum model at $89.99 is the value entry.

Set it against Vosteed's own Marten 330, which is $69.99 with a 3.30-inch 14C28N blade and a top liner lock. The Marten gives you more edge for $20 less. What the Corgi V V sells instead is the Vanchor Lock and a dual-flipper action that no other knife at this price offers. If you want a fidget-friendly knife with a real lock design behind it, that is the trade.
