The Corgi line has always been Vosteed's most self-consciously cute design, and the Corgi V V leans into it: two flippers shaped like corgi ears, a symmetric silhouette, and a name that reads like a dog show entry. Underneath the joke is the company's Vanchor Lock and a genuine size increase.
The Corgi V V runs a 2.91-inch blade โ longer than the original Corgi's โ on a slightly longer and broader aluminium handle. Nitro-V in the A5111 at $89.99, 154CM in the A5102 at $105. The Vanchor Lock integrates the pivot and the lock release into a single mechanism, which is the part worth paying attention to: Vosteed had to rework the internal structure to fit that lock alongside the paired front and rear flippers, and the lock button is deliberately enlarged so the thumb lands on it without hunting.
What you actually feel in use is the dual-flipper layout. A front flipper on a knife this size gives you a slow, controlled open with the thumb when you are in a meeting; the rear flipper gives you a fast index-finger flick. Having both on the same 2.91-inch blade means the knife does not force a technique on you. The stepped perimeter milling on the handle echoes tiered classical architecture, which is a fancy way of saying the handle has visible depth rather than being a flat slab, and it gives your fingers something to index on.
On steel, the $15 gap between Nitro-V and 154CM is the real decision. Both are nitrogen-toughened or modified mid-grade stainless with good corrosion resistance and easy sharpening; 154CM holds an edge a little longer and Nitro-V is a little tougher. Neither is a supersteel, and at 2.91 inches with a light-duty use case, the difference will show up as how often you touch up rather than how the knife performs. If you only buy one, buy the cheaper one and spend the difference on a sharpener.
Verdict: the Corgi V V is a $90 front-and-rear-flipper folder with a proprietary lock and a sense of humour, and that is a fair price for what it is. Buy the Nitro-V version unless you specifically want 154CM, and understand that the deep-carry clip was reshaped for thicker pocket fabric โ a small change that matters more than the milling does.
