Vosteed's Marten Gets Its Cheapest Edition Ever at $69
Vosteed has spent the last two years building a reputation for designs that look expensive and price like they should not be, and the new Marten 330 Top Liner Lock is the clearest expression of that yet. Gear Patrol reports the company has cut the Marten down to its most affordable edition ever, with pricing starting at $69 โ a meaningful drop for a knife that previously sat at $99 to $109 depending on handle material and steel.
What changed is the spec sheet, not the layout. The Marten 330 pairs a 14C28N blade with Vosteed's Top Liner Lock, the company's signature mechanism that moves a liner lock onto the spine side of the handle so the release sits where your thumb naturally rests. It is the single most distinctive thing about Vosteed's catalog, and it is the reason buyers keep comparing these knives to designs costing twice as much.
14C28N is the sensible call for a budget-focused release. It is a Sandvik stainless that sharpens quickly, takes a fine edge, holds it better than the 8Cr13MoV found on most $50 folders, and resists corrosion well enough for pocket carry in humid climates. The previous Marten variants that used 154CM with carbon fiber or PEI handles at $99-$109 are still the nicer knives, but the gap is narrower than the price suggests.
Set the Marten 330 against the rest of the $60-$80 bracket and the argument gets sharper. Vosteed's own Porcupine runs $69 with a 2.99-inch 14C28N blade, and the Griffin landed at $79 before selling out โ so the brand is effectively competing with itself. Against outside options like a Civivi Elementum or a QSP Penguin, the Marten's Top Liner Lock is the differentiator, and its 3.3-inch blade gives it more real cutting capacity than most of the micro-folders in this range.
If you want the Top Liner Lock experience without the premium materials markup, this is the edition to buy, and stock on the cheapest configurations tends to move first. Browse the full Vosteed lineup to see how the Marten compares with the Porcupine, Psyop, and Raccoon before you commit.
