Vosteed's Porcupine TiSlim Puts S90V in a 3.04-Inch Titanium Frame
Vosteed has spent the last two years building a portfolio around two ideas: the Vanchor lock and the idea that a small knife does not have to be a cheap knife. The Porcupine TiSlim sits squarely in the second category. The brand's own product feed lists it as a coming-soon release with a 3.04-inch blade, a top liner lock and a titanium handle, priced between $179 and $189 depending on the steel, alongside a $145 version in 154CM.
The steel spread is the interesting part of this release. Vosteed is offering the same knife with S90V at the top and 154CM at the bottom, which is a $34 to $44 gap for a difference that most buyers will never measure. S90V is a high-vanadium stainless with excellent wear resistance and modest toughness, and it is famously unpleasant to sharpen. 154CM holds an edge well and is far friendlier at the stone, which is why it remains the pragmatic choice in a working knife.
Compared with the rest of the market, a 3.04-inch titanium-handled folder at $145 to $189 sits in a crowded band. Kizer, Kansept, Bestech and Civivi all ship titanium frames with premium steels in that range, and several of them are easier to buy on sale. Vosteed's argument has been design and lock innovation rather than price, and the TiSlim leans on that by keeping the frame thin. Titanium saves weight and looks good; it does not make a better cutter than G10, and it does make a folder harder to grip when your hands are wet or cold.
The honest read is that the $145 154CM version is the version to buy if you want the design, and the S90V versions at $179 to $189 are for people who already know they want maximum edge retention and own diamond stones. Coming-soon listings also have a habit of slipping, so treat the date as an intention rather than a promise. If the design is what you want, the 154CM model is the one that will actually get carried.
