WE Knife's Ocellus Runs Two Openers and Two Price Points

WE KnifeOctober 11, 2026Source: WE Knife

Most knife designs pick an opening method and commit. WE Knife's new Ocellus hedges, offering both a flipper tab and a thumb stud on the same knife, and the choice says something about who the company thinks is buying at $350 to $380.

Giving a blade two ways to open is not redundancy so much as insurance. Flippers reward a light, quick finger and demoralise anyone with gloves, cold hands or a weak wrist. Thumb studs are slower but more forgiving and work with a deliberate, ambidextrous push. Buyers with strong preferences want one or the other; buyers who are still working out what they like, or who want a knife that behaves well in several contexts, get value from both.

The blade measures 3.44 inches, which puts the Ocellus in the same bracket as the Vision R2 and a notch above the Foreshock. Titanium handles keep the weight down, and the two versions split on inlay: a black titanium body with a blue and gold inlay at $350, and a gray titanium body with carbon fibre inlay at $380. As with the rest of the line, the extra money buys finish and material rather than function.

Assembling these three releases into one view is useful. Foreshock at 3.24 inches, Ocellus at 3.44, Vision R2 at 3.54, all titanium, all between $310 and $465. WE is covering the carry spectrum with a consistent material story rather than pushing one flagship, which is a mature way to run a catalogue and gives buyers a real reason to pick based on blade length instead of budget.

Verdict: the Ocellus is the middle of that range and the most flexible of the three. If you are unsure whether you want a flipper or a stud, this is the version that stops you having to choose.
