WE Knife's Suisei Is Dew Hara's $350 Reverse Tanto

WE KnifeOctober 25, 2026Source: WE Knife

Dew Hara designs knives that look like they were drawn with a single continuous line, and the Suisei is the clearest example in WE Knife's current catalog. A reverse tanto in M390, a titanium frame with carbon fiber inlay, and a nested liner lock hiding inside a handle that reads as a frame lock.

The specification list is dense. Overall length 7.83 inches, blade 3.28 inches of Bohler M390 at 0.13 inch stock and 58-60 HRC, hollow grind, dark graphite stonewash finish. The handle is 6AL4V titanium with a black-and-white carbon fiber inlay, 0.5 inch thick, backed by a flamed titanium backspacer, and the whole knife weighs 100.5 grams. Pivot runs on caged ceramic bearings, the clip is a tip-up titanium unit, and the lock is a nested liner lock โ€” a steel liner inset into the titanium frame rather than a titanium-on-steel lock face.

The nested liner lock is the engineering argument. Titanium-on-steel lock faces gall and wear; a steel liner inside a titanium frame gives you a harder lock face with the look of a frame lock. It also means the lock is only as good as the fit between liner and frame, and at $350 that fit is the product. M390 at 58-60 HRC is the standard premium stainless in this tier: high vanadium, good edge retention, adequate toughness, and a hollow grind that will thin out nicely behind the edge.

WE's own Tiercel at $260 is the internal comparison. It gives you CPM MagnaCut โ€” tougher, more corrosion-resistant, similar edge retention โ€” in a lighter 72-gram frame with a frame lock and a wharncliffe blade. The Suisei costs $90 more for the Dew Hara design language, the carbon inlay, and the reverse tanto. Neither is a better knife; they are different answers to the same question.

Verdict: a well-built $350 flipper for people who buy WE Knife for the design work. M390 and a nested liner lock are not entry-level compromises, and 100.5 grams on a 7.83-inch knife is reasonable. Want pure performance per dollar? Buy the Tiercel. Want the most distinctive knife WE has shipped this year? This is it.
