WE Knife's VARG Brings MagnaCut for $315

WE KnifeOctober 28, 2026Source: WE Knife

Three hundred and fifteen dollars for a 2.96-inch blade sounds like a lot until you read the steel line: CPM MagnaCut at 61-63 HRC. That is the Crucible powder-metallurgy stainless that finally put real toughness behind high corrosion resistance, and it is the single most defensible thing about the WE Knife VARG.

The full specification on the WE25074-3: 7.12 inches overall, 2.96-inch clip point in MagnaCut at 0.13 inch stock, flat grind, gray stonewash finish, 6AL4V titanium handle with rose carbon fiber inlay in a tiger-stripe flamed pattern, 6AL4V backspacer and tip-up right-hand clip, caged ceramic ball bearing pivot, frame lock, 3.37 ounces. The handle is half an inch thick and the knife is 1.31 inches wide across the handle, so it is a slim carry for a titanium frame lock.

Flamed titanium is a finish that divides people, and the tiger-stripe pattern makes the division sharper than usual. The colour comes from controlled oxidation of the titanium surface, which means it is not a coating that can chip โ€” but it is also not perfectly uniform, and every piece will differ slightly. Rose carbon fiber inlay on top of that is a busy combination; if you want a knife that photographs well, this is it, and if you want one that looks like a machine tool, look at the gray stonewashed sibling SKUs instead.

2.96 inches is the interesting size decision. It puts the VARG in the under-three-inch bracket that many jurisdictions care about, while the 0.13 inch stock and MagnaCut at 61-63 HRC mean it cuts like a bigger knife. Compare the Headbanger WE25096A-3 at $540: 3.8 inches of Vanax at 0.16 inch stock, 5.22 ounces, a bolster lock and a compound grind. The VARG is the more carryable knife at 60 percent of the price; the Headbanger is the harder-use one.

Verdict: the VARG is the right buy if you want MagnaCut and titanium in a three-inch package and you like the flamed finish. Skip it if you want a plain working knife, because $315 for a 2.96-inch blade is a materials-and-finish purchase, not a value purchase.
