WE Knife's Vision R2 is the company showing off two things at once: a lock it has been developing and a titanium finish it does particularly well.
The blade is a 3.54-inch reverse tanto in Bohler M390 at 59-61 HRC, flat ground and stonewashed, at 0.12 inches of stock. Open length is 7.95 inches and closed length 4.45 inches, and the knife weighs 3.98 ounces — light for a full titanium frame lock in this size class, which tells you how much material WE removed from the handle.
The Superlock is the mechanical story. It is WE's take on a crossbar-style, ambidextrous lock, operated with the thumb and paired here with a thumb hole for opening. The appeal of that arrangement is that it is symmetric: no liner to reach around, no wrong-handed version, and the same motion to open and close on either side. WE has been iterating on this mechanism across models, and the Vision R2 is where it appears with the most premium dressing.
That dressing is the flamed titanium handle. Flame anodizing produces a color shift that no dye or coating can: iridescent blues and purples that move with the light and wear into something else entirely over years of pocket time. It is also, frankly, a finish that photographs badly and looks much better in hand, which is either a reason to buy in person or a reason the model will stay underrated.
M390 at 59-61 HRC is the sensible pairing. It is stainless, it holds an edge, and at this hardness it is still tough enough that a 3.54-inch blade will not chip on normal work. The reverse tanto shape gives a strong tip and a straight section of edge near the front for scoring and piercing, with a slight belly behind it for slicing.
Verdict: at $310 the Vision R2 competes with mid-tier American production and hand-finished imports, and its case is the lock plus the finish. If you want a titanium WE with a lock you can run from either hand, this is the one.
