Benchmade's Bugout 535-3 Falls to $313 for Prime Day
Benchmade's Bugout is the knife that made a whole category of ultralight folders normal, and Prime Day has finally touched the expensive end of the line. The 535-3 is $313, down from $350, which is an 11 percent discount on a knife that rarely sees one at all.
What you get for the extra money is material, not shape. The 535-3 swaps the standard S30V for S90V, a high-vanadium stainless chosen for wear resistance and edge retention rather than toughness. The handle changes from Grivory to milled carbon fiber, and the hardware gets Benchmade's signature blue: ambidextrous thumb studs and a matching backspacer, plus a reversible black oxide deep-carry clip and the usual lanyard slot. The AXIS crossbar lock carries over unchanged, and the whole knife weighs 2.02 ounces, which is marginally heavier than the 1.8-ounce base model and completely irrelevant in a pocket.
The comparison is with the standard Bugout, which is also discounted slightly right now to roughly $188 or $190 depending on variant. That is the honest alternative: the same lock, the same blade length, a different steel and a plastic handle for around $125 less. S90V will hold an edge noticeably longer if you cut a lot of abrasive material, and the carbon fiber will feel better in hand and survive more years of pocket time. Neither upgrade changes what the knife can do.
So the decision is straightforward. If the Bugout is a tool you actually use and sharpen, the base model at $188 is the better value and the money you save buys a sharpening system. If you want the version that feels special every time you open it, the 535-3 at $313 is the lowest price it sees outside the occasional dealer exclusive, and it is a legitimate $125 upgrade rather than a badge.
