Yeti's Camino 20 Tote Hits $112 at REI, Its Lowest Price
The Yeti Camino became famous for reasons that had nothing to do with load carrying: TikTok found it, and it turned into a bag people bought because other people had bought it. Strip the virality away and you are left with a genuinely well-built tote, and right now REI has the 20-liter version in the Ridgeline colorway at $112, down from $140 and the lowest price Gear Patrol has recorded on it.
The construction is the argument. A ThickSkin exterior that resists water and punctures, a molded EVA bottom that keeps the bag standing when it is empty, dual CrossBar handles that work over the shoulder or like a suitcase, deployable internal dividers, two internal zippered pockets and an external grid for modular attachments. For a bag designed to be thrown in a truck bed and then carried into a hotel, that is the right list of features.
Twenty liters is the sweet spot in the lineup for EDC purposes. It is small enough to serve as a personal item on a flight and large enough for a laptop, a dopp kit and a change of clothes, and the dividers mean it does not become a bag of loose objects the moment you unzip it. The larger Caminos carry more and stop being something you want to haul through an airport.
The comparison is with purpose-built EDC slings and backpacks from Peak Design, Aer or Bellroy, which cost two to three times as much and organize better. The Camino trades organization for indestructibility: it is the bag you use for groceries, tools, beach gear and the trunk of a car, not the one you use to keep a 16-inch laptop and its cables immaculate. At $140 that trade was debatable; at $112 it is straightforward.
Verdict: buy it if you want a bag that survives abuse and you can use an open-top tote rather than a compartmentalized pack. Skip it if your carry is electronics-heavy or you need a bag that closes fully, because the Camino is a bucket and always will be.
