Casio Hides a G-SHOCK Logo in New Gold Camo 6900
G-SHOCK's 6900 series has been in production long enough that Casio has to work to make new versions feel interesting, and the Bold Camo GM-6900CMG-3 takes a two-front approach: gold metal up front, camouflage with a concealed logo everywhere else. It is priced at $280.
The headlining change is the bezel. Casio uses a stainless steel bezel with gold-colored ion plating, then applies different polishing techniques and partial laser etching so the camouflage pattern is cut directly into the metal surface. That produces contrasting textures across the bezel, which is a more involved treatment than the uniform polished gold found on most gold-tone watches. A gold dial frame continues the theme around the digital display, while the three circular indicators above the screen preserve the layout that made this generation of 6900 recognizable.
The strap is where the hidden detail lives. Casio developed a custom camouflage artwork that incorporates the brand's G-mark into the irregular shapes printed across the resin, so the logo blends into the pattern instead of appearing as a separate graphic. Owners may not notice it for weeks. Casio applies the same camo artwork across several Bold Camo models, which means the 6900CMG-3 is part of a family rather than a one-off.
Functionally nothing changes. The watch keeps shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, and the usual digital functions, and the ion plating is cosmetic โ there are no solid gold components here. At $280 it sits in the upper-middle of the G-SHOCK range, well above standard $100 resin models and below the premium MR-G tier. Buyers who want gold metal on a G-SHOCK without MR-G money are the target audience.
The honest comparison is against a standard black 6900 at roughly half the price: same module, same durability, different appearance. If you buy watches as equipment, take the resin version. If you buy them as objects, the laser-etched bezel is a legitimately unusual piece of finishing. Everyone else should put the $280 toward a knife they will use every day โ the CIVIVI lineup will outfit a whole carry for less.
