Citizen's Attesa Moon Phase Captures a Snowy Forest
Moon phase watches have a maintenance problem. Traditional mechanical versions eventually drift out of alignment with the lunar cycle, and correcting them is a chore most owners do not enjoy. Citizen's response is the ATTESA EVER SINCE Limited Edition BY1000-69L, which pairs the moon phase display with an Eco-Drive movement that runs on light.
The dial is the design story. Citizen drew on sunlight reaching a snow-covered forest on a winter morning, building a blue gradient with patterns that suggest distant mountains and trees layered beneath the hands. Small sparkling accents stand in for sunlight on snow, and metallic detailing carries the theme through the hour markers. A white moon display sits within all of it.
The hardware is where the value sits. The case and bracelet are Super Titanium โ Citizen's hardened titanium treatment โ which means the watch wears considerably lighter than steel and resists scratching far better than untreated titanium. Eco-Drive removes the battery change from your schedule entirely, and the accuracy of a light-powered movement sidesteps the servicing intervals that make vintage moon phase watches expensive to own.
Availability is the catch. The BY1000-69L is scheduled to launch in Japan on November 5, 2026 and limited to 2,400 pieces worldwide, with pricing still to be announced. A 2,400-piece run across a global enthusiast base means Japanese domestic availability first and import or resale afterwards at whatever the market decides.
Super Titanium is also worth understanding before buying: Citizen's hardening treatment produces a surface roughly five times harder than untreated titanium, which is why these watches keep their finish through years of daily wear.
For buyers who want an unusual dial and a maintenance-free moon phase, this is one of the more interesting 2026 releases from a major Japanese maker. Watch for the price announcement before committing, and expect the secondary market to carry the bulk of the supply outside Japan.
