Spend $149 at BladeHQ and CIVIVI Throws In a Free Gojiro Drift
BladeHQ is running a limited-time freebie: spend at least $149 in a single order and the retailer adds a free exclusive CIVIVI Gojiro Drift folding knife, using code DRIFT at checkout. ToolGuyd flagged the deal on September 30 and noted there is no other fine print visible. The deal runs while supplies last, which in practice means the code stops working when the stock is gone.
The Gojiro Drift is a flipper-opening folder in the CIVIVI line, and previous limited editions of the pattern used a 2.90-inch D2 tool-steel blade and are presumed to be the same here. The freebie appears to come with a blurple handle colour, which is the traditional way these promotional exclusives are distinguished from the retail SKU. D2 at roughly 60 HRC is the standard budget choice for edge retention, and it is not stainless in the way 14C28N is, so a D2 blade needs a wipe after wet use.
The economics deserve some scrutiny. A promotional knife made only for a giveaway is difficult to value, because it never had a retail price. If the Gojiro Drift would otherwise sell for $40 to $50, the deal is effectively a ten to fifteen per cent discount on your order plus a knife you did not choose. That is a real benefit if you were already going to spend $149 at BladeHQ, and it is a manufactured reason to spend if you were not. The threshold is also low enough that a single mid-range folder plus a sharpener crosses it.
Compare it with the standard route of waiting for a seasonal sale. Retailers rarely discount CIVIVI hard, because the margins are already thin, so a bundled knife is often the best value a CIVIVI buyer will see in a quarter. What you give up is choosing the knife.
Verdict: the deal is worth taking if you have a $149 order already planned at BladeHQ. If you are building an order to reach the threshold, you are buying a knife you did not pick. Shop CIVIVI โ
