Timex Builds Five Watches Around Harry Potter Details

TimexOctober 16, 2026Source: The Gadgeteer

Timex has leaned hard into character collaborations this year, and the newest is its largest: five Harry Potter watches that split between open references and details you have to activate. The spread gives buyers an unusual choice between wearing the reference plainly, revealing it with the backlight, or carrying a pocket watch that makes opening the cover part of checking the time.

Three of the five interpret Hermione's Time-Turner, which is the most natural fit for a watch collaboration โ€” an hourglass pendant designed to turn back time is essentially an accessory about timekeeping already. The remaining two split between the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry's own symbols.

The Q Timex Sorcerer's Stone is the boldest of the group at $279. A red dial sits inside a 38mm black IP-coated stainless steel case with a matching brushed bracelet, so the color contrast carries the design rather than any printed artwork. That is a watch that reads as a watch first, which makes it the easiest of the five to wear with ordinary clothes.

The Bolt Expedition Scout takes the opposite approach and is likely the one collectors will gravitate toward. On a 40mm case, Harry's lightning bolt scar becomes the second hand sweeping around a black dial with Arabic numerals and luminous hands and markers. Switch on Timex's INDIGLO backlight and Harry's glasses appear across the dial. That is a smarter use of a backlight than a plain illustration: the surprise lives inside a feature the watch already has, so it costs nothing in legibility. A black fabric strap with leather tabs keeps it casual rather than dressy.

For buyers, the practical question is which of the five you would still wear in February. Character watches sell hardest in the season they launch, and Timex's quartz platform means these are simple, serviceable watches rather than investments. If your budget is limited and your gear needs are real, a daily-use knife earns its money faster โ€” the Kizer and CIVIVI lineups start well below the Sorcerer's Stone's $279.
