Timex Gives the Deepwater Arctic 200 a Gradient Dial for $259

TimexOctober 3, 2026Source: The Gadgeteer

Timex has spent the last few years moving its dive watches upmarket without abandoning the price points that made the brand relevant. The Deepwater Arctic 200 gradient models are the latest step: two references at $259 and $269 that change the dial treatment and leave the hardware that matters alone.

The TW3A01900 pairs a deep-blue dégradé dial with a blue HNBR strap for $259. The TW3A02000 uses a smoky gradient dial, a black strap and a gunmetal case for $269. Timex frames the gradients as a nod to how light and colour change as you descend, which is a design story rather than a functional one. What is verifiable is that both keep the Deepwater Arctic layout, including Arabic numerals at the quarter-hour positions, Super-LumiNova on hands and markers, and the retro character of the line.

The specification sheet is where the value sits. Both watches use stainless steel cases measuring 40.5 mm across, 47 mm lug to lug and 11.5 mm thick, which keeps them out of oversized-diver territory and makes them wearable on smaller wrists. Both carry 200 m water resistance, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, a ceramic unidirectional top ring, a screw-down crown and a quartz movement. Weights are effectively identical at 86.93 and 86.79 grams. The blue reference gets a silver-tone case with brushed and polished surfaces; the smoky one gets a darker gunmetal treatment, which will show scratches differently over time.

The comparison is against automatic dive watches in the $300 to $500 bracket. Those buy you a mechanical movement and, in most cases, a heavier case. The Deepwater Arctic trades the movement for sapphire, ceramic and a genuinely compact 40.5 mm package, and quartz accuracy comes along for free. For a beater dive watch that gets wet and knocked around, that is a rational trade.

Verdict: buy the gradient if you want a compact, fully specified quartz diver under $300 and prefer the look to a plain dial. If you want a mechanical movement at this price, this is not the watch, and no gradient will change that.
