Seasonal watches are usually a hard sell: a design that only makes sense for three weeks a year is a collectible, not a tool. Timex's new Peanuts collaboration sidesteps that problem better than most, and both watches land at $189.
The Peanuts x Timex Weekender Pumpkin (reference TW2Y85800) puts Snoopy and Woodstock on a cream-colored illustrated dial, and the design avoids the standard Halloween shorthand of skulls and orange. The detail that carries it is in the backlight: pressing the crown activates Timex's INDIGLO illumination and reveals falling autumn leaves across the dial. A polished silver-tone case, luminous hands, and a brown natural leather strap embossed with bats complete the package, and the strap keeps the watch wearable with ordinary fall clothing rather than requiring a costume.
The second model, the Peanuts x Timex Weekender Day of the Dead, draws on Mexico's Dia de los Muertos traditions instead. Both share the Weekender format: 40mm case, quartz movement, leather strap, and INDIGLO. The 40mm sizing matters โ it is the middle of the road for wrists of every size, and it keeps these watches out of the novelty-gift category where oversized character watches usually live.
At $189 the comparison is not against a Casio at $50 or a Seiko at $250; it is against other character and collaboration watches, most of which cost more and offer less. Timex's advantage is that the underlying Weekender is a well-known, low-maintenance quartz platform, so you are paying for the artwork and the leather rather than for mechanical complexity. Buyers should expect a leather strap to darken and soften with wear, and should not expect sapphire or high-end finishing at this price.
The sensible buyer is a Peanuts fan who wants a watch that works beyond October. If that is not you, $189 buys a genuinely capable EDC upgrade elsewhere โ the Kizer catalog starts well below that with knives you will carry every day rather than seasonally.
