Vosteed Ships a Corgi V V Deployment Kit for $16.99

Knife companies have discovered that the people who buy a $109 folder will happily spend another twenty dollars on the accessories that go with it. Vosteed's latest drop is exactly that: a Corgi V V First Deployment Kit listed at $16.99, plus a Zodiac V-Patch series at $14.99 each, timed to the Corgi V V's arrival in the lineup.

The kit is the more interesting of the two because it is model-specific. Vosteed's Corgi V V pairs the company's Vanchor Lock โ€” which integrates the pivot and the lock release into a single mechanism โ€” with paired front and back flippers shaped like corgi ears, an enlarged lock button, and a 2.91-inch blade available in 154CM or Nitro-V. The knives themselves run $89.99 to $109 depending on steel and handle. A deployment kit at $16.99 is Vosteed acknowledging that a new lock system has a learning curve and that buyers like the ritual of a first carry.

The V-Patches are the softer sell. PVC patches in the shape of zodiac signs, framed by a story about a raccoon traveller collecting memories across strange little worlds, at $14.99 for Scorpio and Libra. There is no engineering argument for these; they are merchandise, and they exist because the knife community spends money on identity as well as tools. That is not a criticism โ€” it is how every outdoor brand has survived since the patch-and-sticker era began.

Where this fits: Vosteed has been the most aggressive company in the sub-$200 space at building a coherent design language, and the Corgi line is its flagship. Accessories with a model name on them are a sign that a product line has enough of a following to support them. For a buyer, the honest question is whether $16.99 is better spent on the kit or saved toward the knife โ€” and if you have not bought the Corgi V V yet, the answer is the knife.

Verdict: cheap, well-timed, and clearly built for people who already own the folder. Buy the kit if you have a Corgi V V on the way; buy the patches if you like patches. Neither is essential, and neither is pretending to be.
