WE Knife's Sine Wave Mystery Box Bundles an Unknown Knife
Selling a knife with an unknown second knife attached is a marketing move that says more about inventory than about design. WE's Sine Wave Mystery Box, WE23069B-2 MB, is a $395 pre-order for a gray hand-rubbed and satin titanium flipper, and it ships with one free WE or CIVIVI model that the buyer does not get to choose.
The known half is a serious knife: 8.84 inches overall, a 3.98-inch stonewashed M390 drop point at 59-61 HRC, 0.16-inch blade stock, 4.96 ounces, 6AL4V titanium handle at 0.52 inch thick, nested liner lock, caged ceramic bearings and a tip-up right-hand titanium clip. That is a big, thin-edged titanium flipper, and at 3.98 inches it sits at the top of what most people consider a daily carry. If you want the mystery element to be rational, look at what WE and CIVIVI actually sell under $150. The CIVIVI budget line runs from roughly $30 to $100, and the cheapest WE folders start near $150, so that is the range the free knife almost certainly comes from. Its street value is a third to a half of the $395 you are already paying for the Sine Wave.
The unknown half is the problem. A free knife whose model is not disclosed has an expected value equal to whatever WE decides to clear out, and the buyer cannot price that. Compare the two other variants in the same bundle: $415 for flamed and satin, $415 for polished gray, $395 for this one โ the differences track handle finish, not the mystery item.
Set the bundle against the rest of the catalog and the case gets thinner. A Vision R2 at $310 and a Tiercel at $250 are both known quantities with real specifications. If you already wanted a 3.98-inch M390 WE flipper, the mystery knife is a bonus. If you are buying the bundle for the bonus, you are buying a lottery ticket with a knife attached.
Estimated shipping on the pre-order is October 29, and pricing is live on the WE Knife listing.
